Eastern Florida State Women’s Tennis Team Opens Season With Game at Flagler University

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — The Eastern Florida State College women’s tennis team opened its regular season Friday afternoon with a game against Flagler University.

The women’s tennis team returns five players from last season’s team that was just getting the season started when Covid-19 shut down the spring sports season.

Sophomore Tsveti Trifonova leads a talented group that is ranked No. 7 in the Oracle/ITA NJCAA Division I National Team Rankings.

Trifonova finished last season ranked 13th in the nation in singles while teammate Carlota Gascon Martinez was ranked 30th and Julie Martincova was 41st in the rankings.

The match on Friday against Flagler University will begin at 1 p.m. The team will be at Titan Tennis Center for the first time against the State College of Florida Manatee Friday, Feb. 12.
