BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College softball team scored in the eighth inning to sweep Polk State College on the road Friday evening.

The Titans won the first game 2-0 behind a strong pitching performance from Trinity Howard, who allowed just four hits in seven shutout innings, striking out four.

Howard doubled in the second innings and scored the first run and then Kaitlyn Wilson drove in the second run with an RBI single. Howard finished with two of the team’s six hits in the game.

In Game 2, the Titans scored three times in the third inning highlighted by Alyssa Agrippa’s two-run single. Polk State would score runs in the fourth, fifth and then tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.

But with Howard starting the inning at second base, Agrippa laid down a sacrifice bunt and then Howard scored the winning run on Molly Reid’s sacrifice fly to left field.

Agrippa and Jaydah Stroup each had two hits and Howard picked up the win, allowing three unearned runs over eight innings, striking out five.

The Titans will be back in action Saturday on the road against Lake Sumter State College.

The first game of the doubleheader begins at noon.
