Vaping is the act of inhaling vapor created by an instrument such as an electronic cigarette. The electronic cigarette is a modern alternative for smoking. The electronic cigarette is considered a healthier alternative to smoking regular cigarettes.

The modern e-cigarette consists of 3 components; an atomizer, a power source, and a tank. The tank contains the liquid that is turned into vapor by the atomizer.

Vaping gained immense popularity from 2011 onwards with a total of 1.1 billion e-cigarette users worldwide by 2020, with the majority users in China, the United States, and Europe.

What is in the Vapor?

As mentioned by Revival Vape the atomizer of the e-cigarette turns the liquid in its tank into a vapor that is inhaled. But what is exactly in the vapor that we are inhaling into our bodies?

The e-liquids have a variety of mixtures and compositions but general safety guidelines are prescribed by regulatory authorities such as the Food and Drug Administration in the United States have a manufacturing guideline that must be followed by e-liquid manufacturers.

A standard e-liquid contains propylene glycol, glycerin, nicotine, flavorings, additives, and contaminants. There are many e-liquid manufacturers, and more than 15,000 flavors.

The modern e-cigarette used for vaping is generally accepted to be made in China by a Chinese pharmacist in 2003. The first commercially sold e-cigarette was introduced in 2004 in the Chinese market.

From 2006 onwards, many improvements and mods were made by vaping enthusiasts. Vaping became a strong tight-knit community among users with a core sentiment of vaping being a healthy alternative to smoking tobacco.

Many tobacco companies seeing the uptick in vaping began making their vaping brands in 2012 by purchasing small established brands and launching them in international markets.

Vaping Culture

Vaping has seen unprecedented support from consumers as compared to other nicotine replacement products.

In 2013 a “vaping community” subculture gained a massive following. The members of the group all banded together on the notion that vaping is a safer alternative to smoking.

“Vapers” as the vaping community like to be called as are such vehement supporters of e-cigarettes that they are seen often resorting to online bullying and trolling if they find someone that does not agree with their vaping ideology.

Vaping is most commonly associated with young people, especially in America. Companies use very catchy and engaging social media marketing tactics to entice younger audiences into the vaping culture.

Many sub-communities have developed in the vaping culture with their own identities; a community referred to as “cloud chasers” has emerged that mod e-cigarettes to maximize their vapor output.

An annual festival called “Vapefest” started in 2010 for vapers to gather and vape together.

The word vaping conjures an image of a young 20 something that is working to become the next Elon Musk while working as a barista in an artisanal café.

Vaping is a mindset and a lifestyle choice. People that grow out of it leave it entirely.

The health benefits of vaping are still under scrutiny but the consensus is that it is healthier than smoking tobacco.
