Hawkins announced his decision to enter the NFL draft on social media last year:

After much prayer and discussion with my family, I have decided to opt-out of the remaining 2020 season and begin preparation for the 2021 NFL Draft. Over the next few months, I will be finishing my semester at Louisville, while also preparing for the Draft.

My experience at Louisville has been nothing short of amazing. My teammates, coaches, professors and the entire Louisville family has prepared me for my next chapter in the NFL. I will forever be grateful to everyone who has contributed to my journey at Louisville.

I thank God for blessing me with this talent and opportunity. This is an opportunity that I realize is a privilege and I will never take it for granted. I would like to thank my parents, siblings and entire family for this Is and unyielding support.

I would like to thank Coach Satterfield, Coach McKenzie, and the entire coaching staff for this guidance. They have made me a better player and person. I would like to thank my teammates for this support, both on and off the field.

Last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank the best fans in college football. I want to also extend a special thank you to all of the First Responders, medical professionals, and all other essential workers for keeping us safe during this challenge, COVID environment. I hope to continue to make everyone proud as I pursue my lifelong dream. Thank you.
