TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA – Former Florida Governor and congressman Charlie Crist announced his run for governor on Tuesday by entering the Florida Gubernatorial race in 2022.

The current Democratic congressman representing Florida’s 13th district made his announcement by video message Tuesday morning stating Florida should be a place where “hard work is rewarded, justice is equal, and opportunity is right in front of you.”

Crist served as the 44th governor of Florida from 2007 to 2011 before losing Rick Scott.

He will look to unseat Gov. Ron DeSantis, who was first elected in 2018.

Crist, a former republican, joined the Democratic Party on December 7, 2012, Crist, when he endorsed President Barack Obama for reelection in 2012.
