OBITUARY: Former Merritt Island High Principal William J. ‘Bill’ Dugan Passes Away at Age 80

Moved to Brevard in 1969, served on Indian Harbor Beach City Council
BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – William J. “Bill” Dugan passed away surrounded by his loved ones on May 6, 2021, at the age of 80.
He was a wonderful father to Michael Dugan (Patty) and Susan Schroeder (David) and loving grandfather, “Mr. Bill” to Sean, Erin and Danielle Dugan as well as Christopher (Caitlyn), Lauren and Kevin Schroeder.
Predeceased by his bride, Maureen of 42 years, Bill was born in Boston, MA, growing up in Medfield MA and attending Bridgewater State College and Northeastern University prior to moving to Indian Harbor Beach, FL in 1969.
Through the years, Bill served on the Indian Harbor Beach City Council and Indian Harbor Beach Volunteer Fire Department and was a long-time administrator for Brevard Public Schools, finishing his career as principal of Merritt Island High School.
Always social, Bill was a member of both the Moose and the Elks and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, eating good food and drinking fine wine.
A private service will be held in Waynesville, NC, a favorite place of both Bill and Maureen.
