Viera High Soccer Coach Nick Robinson Joins Robin Chan at Florida Tech as Assistant Coach

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech head coach Robin Chan announced the hiring of Nick Robinson as assistant coach of the men’s soccer program.

“I’m excited to welcome Nick back to Florida Tech and to the program,” said Chan.

“Nick will not miss a beat in stepping into this role with the program. He already has existing relationships with some of our players and the campus.

“His positive energy and competitive spirit will be a great addition to the Athletic Department, and he is fully committed to the development of each individual student-athlete as well as advancing the program both on the field and off.

“Nick is a hard worker, a very talented coach, and an even better person. He brings with him a strong recruiting network domestically and internationally and has a full understanding of the demanding nature and level required to succeed in the Sunshine State Conference and our south region.”

Robinson, an alumnus of Florida Tech, was a star for the men’s soccer team on the pitch from 2009-2011, and graduate assistant coach from 2012-2014.

He returns to Florida Tech after spending four seasons as assistant coach of the Eastern Florida State College men’s soccer team from 2016-2020.

“I am extremely grateful to head coach Robin Chan, Athletic Director Jamie Joss, and the search committee for the opportunity and privilege to once again represent my alma mater in one of the strongest and challenging conferences in the country,” said Robinson.

“I hope to further strengthen the successes of recent years and help optimize the experience of our student-athletes; therefore, heightening their success in the classroom, on the field, and within the community.”

Eastern Florida State experienced much success during Robinson’s tenure as an assistant coach, as he helped guide the Titans men’s soccer program to an overall record of 55-14-7.

Robinson and Titans head coach Oliver Twelvetrees was named the United Soccer Coaches Association Junior College Division I South Region Staff of the Year in 2019 after leading the Titans to a program-record 16 victories during the 2019 season, including a trip to the 2019 NJCAA National Championship Game.

EFSC also made a NJCAA Final Four appearance in 2018. Over the last two seasons, the Titans posted a 31-7-3 record.

The Titans won three straight Region 8 (Florida) Championships, appeared in four straight District/Regional Final Championship games since the 2016 season and finished top 10 at the end of season NJCAA national rankings in all four seasons.

Additionally, EFSC had its first National Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the 2019 season to go along with four NJCAA All-Americans.

Robinson also currently serves as the head coach for the 6A Viera High School boy’s varsity soccer team, where he has held the position since 2015 and accumulated an overall record of 86-24-11.

In 2019, Robinson also guided his U19 Space Coast United Soccer Club to a Florida Youth Soccer Association State Championship, finishing as the top-ranked team in the state.

Robinson, a native of Victoria, Australia, had a stellar career for Florida Tech during his three seasons on the roster. He was named to the NSCAA All-South Region team in his senior season in 2011 and also garnered SSC All-Conference team honors for two of his three seasons as a Panther.

He started 42 of 45 games during his Florida Tech career and finished with 14 goals, seven assists and six game-winning goals. Robinson led the team with 12 points on five goals and two assists including three game-winners during his senior season.

After graduating from undergrad, he became a graduate assistant coach for the Panthers from 2012-2014, working alongside Robin Chan while completing his master’s degree. Florida Tech posted a 15-14-4 record during his two seasons on the sidelines.

Before transferring to Florida Tech, Robinson played the 2008 season at Lees-McRae College and helped the Bobcats go undefeated in conference play throughout the season.

Lees-McRae claimed both the Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament championship that season and went on to the NCAA Sweet 16. Robinson earned All-Conference Carolinas team honors in 2008, finishing with six goals and five assists during his freshman season.

Robinson earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration in 2012 from Florida Tech and then earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Florida Tech in 2013.

Robinson currently holds his NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, USSF C License and is in the process of completing his USSF B License.
