BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Space Coast Symphony YOUTH Orchestra will audition new members for all three of its musical groups on Monday, August 30, from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at Temple Israel of Brevard, located at 7300 Lake Andrew Drive in Viera.

The SCSYO members are divided into three performing groups, to accommodate various ages and experience levels. Tuition for the 13-week fall session starts at $150 and varies according to the group.

The Academy Orchestra’s beginning string players are under the direction of Paul Jackson, intermediate players of the Symphony Orchestra are under the direction of Samantha Felber, and advanced Philharmonic Orchestra students are under the direction of Maestro Mark Nelson.

An outreach of the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra, the youth orchestra for youth aged eight to 20 years rehearses weekly in preparation for performances of classical symphonic masterworks.

Rehearsals are held at Temple Israel of Brevard in Viera. Interested students and their parents can view audition and session details and enroll online at www.SCSYO.us.

Space Coast Symphony YOUTH Orchestra Executive Director, Jensee Lee is looking forward to an influx of new student players for the fall session, which will include concerts for the public in both November and December.

“Our talented young musicians are eager to rehearse on their instruments and perform,” said Lee.

“We have many who will likely go on to professional careers in music. But whatever their playing level, there are powerful life lessons to be learned through self-improvement and working alongside others.”

The SCSYO will be following the most recent protocols by Brevard Public Schools, the International Coalition of Arts Organizations Aerosol Study, and the American String Teachers Association Return to Learning Guidelines.

The first weekly rehearsal of the fall session will commence on September 13 at Temple Israel of Brevard, kicking off the 2021-22 season, themed Enlightenment.

The season-ending concert will be alongside the adult members of the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Aaron T. Collins.

The orchestras are led by a talented artistic staff of professional musicians and music educators. The spring session of 2022 will include a concerto competition and the resulting concert of the winners.
