FSU COACH NORVELL: Corbin has been a star of our offseason program

WATCH: Jashaun Corbin talks about getting back on the field, the carryover from spring concepts, his health, and more after first day of preseason practice.

(24/7 SPORTS) – Former Rockledge Raider, current Florida State redshirt sophomore running back Jashaun Corbin speaks after the first day of preseason practice.

He spoke on getting back on the field, the carryover from spring concepts, his health, and more.

Corbin came to FSU as a Texas A&M transfer last spring and still wasn’t full-contact following a season-ending hamstring injury.

He worked his way back to the field during an unorthodox offseason, distinguishing himself as a full-time starter for the Seminoles.

Still, he wasn’t quite the same player he was his freshman season in the SEC. At least not initially.

The burst that made Corbin a big-play threat (5.67 yards per run, 8.5 yards per reception, and 30.14 yards per kickoff return) wasn’t evident.

But that seemed to return to Corbin as the year went on. He showed more explosiveness as a runner and ended up recording four touchdowns in FSU’s final four games of the season.

“A guy like Jashaun Corbin has been a star of our offseason program,” Norvell said.

“We saw flashes towards the end of last year as he came off a significant injury his last year at A&M. Last year, he did a great job for us, and you saw the positive steps towards the end of the season, and this spring has been remarkable. I think he is close to 215 pounds, and he is flying around the field. His leadership in all aspects of what he is doing has been really positive.”
