It’s undeniable that Hulu houses one of the best content catalogues with the latest TV shows, movies, and even Hulu originals. It offers roughly around  40,000+ TV episodes from 1,600+ shows, and 2,500+ films.

While you can stream great movies on Hulu, sometimes what you are in need of is something that can easily be considered a classic — a film that still holds a special place in the hearts of countless fans.

We took a deep dive into the Hulu catalogue to find some of the best classic movies to date from a variety of genres such as action, comedy, and even romance that don’t require any remake.

So without further ado, let’s get started with our list of thoughtfully listed classic films available on Hulu that didn’t need any remaking.

The Furies (1950)

This criterion-approved western drama is centred around two main characters. First, Barbara Stanwyck, an heiress, goes toe-to-toe with her father Walter Huston as cattle rancher.

The two fight over her choice of a husband and his choice of a wife and ultimately tore apart on the decision regarding the authority and control of the ranch itself.

If you enjoy a western theme, noir film style, and family drama inspired by Shakespear, then this movie should be on your watchlist.

Johnny Guitar (1954)

This another western classic sees a gunslinger named Johnny Guitar (Sterling Hayden) arriving at a town. The story is about his former lover, Vienna (Joan Crawford), targeted over her suspected involvement with a recent killing.

James packed with emotion, this technicolour style classic still feels fresh, even after being released 60 years ago.

The Bellboy (1960)

You’ll find this film without any story or plot, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve a watch.

This film is a story of a mute bellboy with the name Stanley. Comic legend Jerry Lewis directs and stars as the mute bellboy Stanley.

He works at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach. While he is quite efficient and friendly, Stanley has a bad habit of finding himself in trouble due to his mistakes.

Suppose you are still craving more laughter after watching The Bellboy. In that case, we recommend watching Lewis’s other works, such as The Patsy and Cinderella, which are also available on Hulu.

The Pawnbroker (1964)

Considered the first American film to paint a devastating picture of the Holocaust from a survivor’s perspective.

The main character, Sol Nazerman (Rod Steiger), is a former professor trying to turn over a new leaf by operating a pawnshop in Harlem. Unfortunately, due to being traumatized by his past experiences, he has decided to shut himself off from human connections completely.

When his wife’s 25th death anniversary approaches, he is again pushed to another breaking point.

Directed by Sidney Lumet, The Pawnbroker is a powerful and thought-provoking classic movie.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)

Paul Newman as the charismatic Butch Cassidy and Robert Redford as the sardonic Sundance Kid are the two outlaws on the run after their train heist ends up in a disaster.

While the movie offers plenty of thrill and adventure, what makes this classic cherish is the chemistry between the two main characters.

Stuffed with witty dialogue from William Goldman, the friendship between Paul Newman and Robert Redford inspired the upcoming buddy files.

Young Frankenstein (1974)

A grandson struggling to prove that his scientist grandfather was not insane is invited to Transylvania. It is there; he discovers a method to bring back the dead to life.

Young Frankenstein introduces us to the descendants of Victor Frankenstein. This all-time classic monster movie contains the brilliant acting performances of Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle and also includes acting legends like Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, and Marty Feldman.

Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1974)

A master swordsman and his assistant hunt vampires. Do you need any other reason to watch this classic?

This gothic horror tale was initially created to start a new film series. While that didn’t happen, this alone installment sees Captain Kronos played by Horst Janson and his former soldier assistant, killing all sorts of vampires hiding in the dark.

There you have it. Those are our top classic films recommendations that are currently available on Hulu.
