Florida Tech Panthers Swim Team Finish Second in Opener at UNF Season Kickoff in Jacksonville

panthers earns eight top-three finishes in season opener

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech opened the 2021-22 season by finishing second at the UNF Season Kickoff on Saturday in Jacksonville.

Tech’s first victory of the season happened courtesy of Daniel Aizenberg, who earned a win in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 23.39.

Aizenberg also placed second in the 50-yard butterfly with a finish of 22.90 and third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.95.

John Fonnotto took home the win in the 100-yard butterfly with a finish of 50.42. He also placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.67 and third in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 23.24.

Sean Foster placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.39 as well as second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.47.

The Panthers registered their relay win of the season in the 4X200-yard free (1:32.73) with Daniel Aizenberg, Sean Foster, John Fonnotto, and Max Martino.

The team of John Fonnotto, Max Martino, and Jacob Coutant took third in the 3X300 yard butterfly relay with a time of 2:42.69.

The team of Daniel Aizenberg, Nathaniel Allen, and Michael Panariello took third in the 3X300 yard backstroke relay with a time of 2:40.00.

Tech took home second in the 3X300 breaststroke relay through the team of Sean Foster, Kyle Gibson, and Connor Orth with a time of 2:54.91.

The Crimson and Gray placed second in the 4X400 individual medley relay with a time of 3:11.62 via the team of David Armstrong, Farran Barker, Max Martino, and Sean Foster.

■ 1st Florida Southern (988.5)

■ 2nd Florida Tech (847)

■ 3rd Rollins (567.5)

Tech will return to action on Friday, October 29th when they will host Lynn and Saint Leo. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
