OBITUARY: Co-Owner of Niki’s Restaurant, Edward J. McGurk, 83, of Viera, Passed Away on Sept. 19

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 58 years

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – On September 19, 2021, Edward J. McGurk was lifted to heaven. He was born in New York, NY on February 10, 1938, and grew up in Mineola, NY. Ed served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 until 1959. He received a BS degree from Hofstra University while tending bar for his father at McGurk’s Tavern in Mineola.
After college, he met and married the love of his life, Celia. They raised their three children in Morganville, NJ for 18 years then moved to Brevard County in 1988.
Ed retired from AT&T after 25 years and became the co-owner of Niki’s Restaurant in Suntree. He was a volunteer a fireman in Indian Harbor Beach as well as The Daily Bread in Melbourne and an avid golfer.
Ed was a devout Catholic, an usher for many years at Holy Name of Jesus, and currently a member of St John the Evangelist and a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Celia, and their children, Melissa (Shane) Shaulis, James McGurk, and Eileen (Lawrence) Miller, his seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, Viera, FL, on Tuesday, October 26 at 11 a.m. Further information will be posted on the website for National Cremation and Burial Society, Oviedo, FL.
