Brevard County Tourist Development Council Approves Grants for Events, Special Projects for Next Year

BREVARD, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Tourist Development Council has announced the fiscal year 2021-2022 grants awarded by the Tourism and Lagoon Grant Program from the Beach Improvement Committee, the Cultural Support Grant Program from the Cultural Advisory Committee in coordination with Brevard Cultural Alliance, Capital Facilities Committee’s grant program, and Cycle 1 of the Sports Grant Program from the Sports Advisory Committee.
In the first quarter of 2022, two more grant programs will announce their recipients – the Major Event Grant Program from the Cultural Advisory Committee, and Cycle 2 of the Sports Grant Program.
In addition to these, the New Sports Event Development Grant Program is rolling open enrollment with a 90-day lead time.
Tourism + Lagoon Grant Program winners include:
■ Brevard County Boating & Waterways: Derelict Vessel Removal project; Max Brewer Causeway North Shoreline Restoration Feasibility Study
■ Brevard County Natural Resources: Titusville Causeway Multi-trophic Shoreline Stabilization and Resiliency Action Project Phase 2b & 2c; Lagoon Recreation Field Guide; Manatee Field Guide: Outdoor signage & distribution
■ City of Satellite Beach: Samsons Island Submerged Lands Restoration – Phase 2
■ City of Titusville: Scobie Park Improvements
■ Keep Brevard Beautiful: KBB Flex Team North Banana River Drive Litter Removal
■ Bonefish & Tarpon Trust: Using Citizen Science to build a Strategic Spatial Framework to Guide Conservation and Restoration of Indian River Lagoon Habitats & Associated Recreational Fisheries
■ East Coast Zoological Society of Florida, INC (Brevard Zoo): Shuck & Share: Shell recycling for Brevard County Oyster Restoration
■ University of Florida Whitney Laboratory: Restoration of Clam population in Indian River Lagoon for water quality improvement & economic resiliency
■ University of Central Florida Foundation: Putting Coastal Conservation Books in the hands of young children in Brevard County to protect the Indian River Lagoon

The Tourism Development Office consists of Brevard County employees who serve as the staff for the Tourist Development Council Tourism Development Council.
The day-to-day operations such as promotion and advertising, visitor information services, as well as, budget preparation and financial reporting of the Tourist Development Tax revenues and expenditures are managed through the Tourism Development Office.
Other activities managed through the Tourism Development Office include funding of beach renourishment projects, capital facilities projects, cultural marketing, zoo distribution and Space Coast Stadium capital repairs and maintenance.
