BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit is currently investigating a fatal crash that happened at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26.

According to Melbourne Police Sergeant Daniel Desormier, officers responded to the area of Aurora Road and Stewart Avenue regarding a crash involving two vehicles.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered that one of the drivers sustained serious injuries,” said Sgt. Desormier.  “The driver was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to those injuries.”

A preliminary investigation indicates that the decedent was operating a 1993 Buick Roadmaster station wagon and was making a left turn westbound onto Aurora Road.

He was then struck on the driver’s side of his vehicle by a 2020 Ford F-250 pickup truck, which was heading eastbound on Aurora Road.

Sgt. Desormier said it appears alcohol/drugs are not a factor in this crash and the crash is still under investigation.
