BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – The Port Canaveral Foreign Trade Zone #136 has expanded with the addition of Raider Outboards, Inc., as a new FTZ operator.

The Titusville, Florida-based specialized outboard motor manufacturer recently received approval for its expansion from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners in support of the company’s growth as a supplier to NATO countries overseas.

“Our Foreign Trade Zone is growing as a resource for area companies aiming for a competitive advantage in the global marketplace,” said Port Canaveral CEO Capt. John Murray.

“Raider Outboards is a small business success story with a bright future which translates into success for our entire region.”

Raider Outboards is a U.S.-owned and operated company that designs, produces and supports a line of military-grade, multi-fuel, submersible, lightweight outboard motors, and associated parts, for use in highly demanding maritime environments for a wide range of users including military, search and rescue, and commercial/retail.

“As a Foreign Trade Zone operator, we anticipate our international business will experience increased growth opportunities,” said George Woodruff, President of Raider Outboards.

Raider Outboards was established in 2015 as a small business specializing in building outboard motors for the United States military.

The company’s first contracted with the U.S. Air Force Special Forces and has since expanded into supplying products for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, U.S. Space Force and NASA.

In 2019, Raider Outboard expanded operations to supply its products to NATO countries with an initial sale to the Netherlands. The company reports it is now operating in over six countries.

Established in 1987, Port Canaveral’s Foreign Trade Zone #136 offers advantages to businesses dealing in international trade, such as free-trade cost discounts, duty-free storage, and jet fuel for international flights.

The foreign trade zone concept was developed to encourage international trade by American companies and to preserve American jobs.
