BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are still investigating a deadly hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian that happened early Saturday morning near the area of New Haven Avenue and South Harbor City Boulevard.
Authorities announced they have located the vehicle involved in the deadly hit-and-run. They also have a person of interest identified in the incident.
Police say the collision happened around 2 a.m. when police responded to the report of a person found dead in the area of New Haven Avenue and South Harbor City Boulevard.
When officers arrived on scene, they discovered that the person was a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation indicates that the pedestrian killed was on South Harbor City Boulevard between New Haven Avenue and East Strawbridge Avenue when he was struck by a motor vehicle that fled the scene of the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
