9 Healthy New Year’s Resolutions You Can Actually Keep
By Space Coast Daily // January 27, 2022

A new year is a new beginning for most people. Following a period of bottomless festive feasts and unlimited drinks, many New Year’s Resolutions revolve around losing weight and making healthier choices, or even working less. But it’s not always easy picking something you can work towards without giving up.
If you’re struggling for ideas, don’t worry, it’s not too late to make a resolution. Here are nine healthy New Year’s Resolutions that promise to keep you on your toes in 2022!
1) Take More Me Time
Taking the time to unwind and relax is crucial, no matter how busy life gets. Sometimes, fifteen minutes is all you need. Other times, you might need a little longer, especially if it’s been a tough day! The point is, don’t spend 90% of your day doing housework if you don’t enjoy it.
If your partner or kids come home and leave a mountain of dishes on the counter, leave them. While it’s easier said than done in most cases, it’s what you need to do for yourself. Find something you enjoy doing, and take some time out to do just that!
2) Build a Sensible Diet Plan
Starting another year can be a fresh start for many. Some people pledge never to drink again, while others promise to cut out junk food entirely and live a healthier, happier year. If that person is you, then you can start by building a sensible diet plan. Try different diet supplements, like sea moss capsules. And aim to fit in a small workout, walk, or bike ride as well. But, most importantly, be sure to drink more water as your body needs it!
3) Practice Cooking at Home
Many famous chefs mastered their culinary skills at home, and you can be just like them too. Or maybe just take up home cooking – something like that! This year is an open calendar for planning, preparing, and cooking healthy meals that you love.
You can monitor what you eat, limit the junk food coming into your home and take back control of your diet. Plus, think of all the money you’ll save by not eating out.
4) Limit Screen Time
For those heavily reliant on technology, this could be a tricky resolution to keep. Still, it’s a resolution that you won’t get bored of, and you’re more likely to stick to the plan, too.
First, try not to depend on your cell phone! If you accidentally leave your cell phone at home, don’t sweat it. It’s still going to be there when you get home! And there’s more to life than checking for missed calls and messages every five minutes of the day.
You could limit your time watching TV too. Try to keep busy during the day, so you’re not tempted to sit in front of the flat screen for hours on end. Believe us, that can do quite some damage to your eyes! Instead, dedicate TV for family time at the end of a long day.
Snuggle up on the couch and get the blankets out, some drinks, and snacks. That’s what screen time should be. It should be an hour or two of your day at most.
5) Say NO to Fast Food
Takeout once a month isn’t a bad thing, but eating fast food every single day is the cause of bad health. Look after yourself and your body by saying no to junk food – there are plenty of other tasty things to try! That said, don’t always do what’s more convenient for you. If you live with your partner, kids, or roommates, they might not always want fast food as a quick fix.
Spending a little more time preparing your meals will go a long way, and your lodgers may even find home-cooked meals tastier!
6) Stay on Top of House Work
Keeping on top of your housework brings you one step closer to a tidy home, all the time. No more embarrassing last-minute tidy-ups before your guests arrive.
With everything kept clean and tidy, you can go about your day as you normally would! We’d recommend leaving half an hour every morning or evening to do the groundwork, covering everything in plain sight. Everything else, including sorting the cupboards, can be done another day.
7) Cut Down on Liquor
Giving up the drink is stereotyped as one of the worst New Year’s Resolutions. Mostly because everyone who pledges to quit drinking ends up drinking again come February. It falls to willpower, and if you don’t have that, then there’s no point in setting a New Year’s Resolution at all.
But, since you’re here and want ideas for things you can work towards without giving up, now’s the time to say cutting down on liquor might be the perfect challenge for you. It comes with so many health benefits, including a healthier liver!
8) Be More Involved in Things That Matter
Be more involved in the things that matter. Just be present. Listen to your friends, colleagues, and family more. What they have to say matters, and you listening to their stories means more than you might think right now.
One day, you won’t get the chance to listen to them go on about things you might not understand, but they love. So, live this year like it’s your last and cherish every moment you have with those who mean the most to you. Don’t let another year slip by in the blink of an eye.
9) Try a New Hobby
Lastly, try something new! This has to be the easiest resolution out there, despite what people say. Pick something you wouldn’t normally do, and take some time to learn the ropes.
Whether that’s taking a pottery class, learning how to crochet, ride a bike, or drive a car, you’ll burst with pride when you’ve finally mastered how to do it on your own! What’s the worst that could happen? And if you do get bored, you can always move on to try something else. The world is your oyster, and the sky is your limit!
