Eastern Florida State Wins Third Straight After Defeating Southern Union 92-72 at Jim Grimes Classic

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team picked up its third straight win Thursday evening in the Jim Grimes Classic.

The Titans got off to a fast start and used it to defeat Southern Union State Community College 92-72 in the second game of Day 1 of the Jim Grimes Classic. No. 16 Shelton State won the first game against North Florida Prep, 115-70.

Second-year freshman Justin Reid scored 10 of the team’s first 12 points as the Titans jumped out to a 12-1 lead.

The Bisons would battle back, cutting the lead to five at 20-15 but the Titans went on a 10-3 run of their own and led 52-35 at the break.

Third-year sophomore Ron Ukaj got things started in the second half with four quick points as the Titans continued to keep the Bisons at bay throughout the game.

Seal Osajivbe had his best night of the season, recording his first double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Reid also had a career-best night with 19 points, leading the Titans while Brandon Garcia had 14 and Roberts Berze finished with 11.

Eastern Florida State College improved to 10-4 with the victory while Southern Union State fell to 5-6. Marcus Hill paced Southern Union State Community College with 17 points.

Day 2 of the Jim Grimes Classic will begin at noon on Friday when Southern Union State Community College will play North Florida Prep. Then the Titans will play No. 16 Shelton State College at 2 p.m.
