BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Prepare for the clash of the culinary titans at Gastropalooza II on Friday, February 2 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Central Park at The Avenue Viera.
Event organizers said award-winning Chef Kyle Hash from 28 North Gastropub will face off against celebrity Chef Travis Peters of Chopped and Late Night Eats on the Food Network in a one-of-a-kind tri-course culinary event.
Admission to Gastropalooza II at 2250 Town Center Avenue in Melbourne is free.
Gastropalooza will include live music performances from Tru Phonic, a local farmer’s market, artisan food makers, local craft brewers, distilleries and pop-up vendors.
Tickets for food and beverages are $25 for all-you-can-eat food, $25 for all-you-can-drink beverages, or $45 for both food and beverages.
The event is presented by Chris Conneen, the proprietor of 28 North Gastropub and Pizza Gallery & Grill, centered around a three-course cooking competition between renowned chefs and friends.

“Chef Kyle is eager to defend his title,” says Conneen. “He’s excited to compete against Chef Travis Peters. Travis is super excited to bring his culinary talent to the East Coast.”
Vying for the championship title of top chef in the event, Hash and Peters will compete in three rounds themed around breakfast, lunch and dinner. Peters will be challenging Hash with his favorite breakfast/brunch fare and Hash will summon his favorite lunch choice for the two to make on stage.
The last dinner round ingredients are being crowdsourced through 28 North’s social media.
“We will then choose four crazy ingredients for these Chefs to incorporate into their own unique dinner entrees and WOW the judges,” said Conneen.
“Favorite local band, Tru Phonic, will be rocking The Avenue Central Park stage between culinary rounds.”
Although the event lasts until 10 p.m., the final judges’ ruling for the winner of the culinary head-to-head will take place at 9:30 p.m. Each chef will be judged on their courses’ presentation, taste, and creative innovation.
Nine judges will participate in the event, with three sets of three judges per round.
“The celebrity judges will be notable people in the community,” said Conneen.
“The chefs are going to be judged on their use of ingredients and how they did something out of the box.”
