Palm Bay Municipal Foundation Awards $17,400 in Funding to Two Non-Profit Organizations Providing Temporary Emergency Shelter

The Foundation awarded $8,900 to Helps Community Initiatives and $8,500 to The Source

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Municipal Foundation, a 501(C)3 not-for-profit arm of the City of Palm Bay, awarded a total of $17,400 in funding to two non-profit organizations to provide temporary emergency shelter on January 6.

The Foundation awarded $8,900 to Helps Community Initiatives (doing business as Truth Revealed Ministries) to provide cold night shelter accommodations in the form of hotel vouchers during nights when the temperature reaches 45 degrees or below.

In addition to a hotel voucher, accommodations provided by this funding also include dinner and breakfast vouchers, a bus pass, and toiletries as well as administrative volunteers providing on-site assistance during cold night shelter activation. Additionally, the Foundation awarded $8,500 to The Source (doing business as I Am Ministries, Inc.) towards the purchase of 16 mattresses and annual insurance policy coverage for the organization’s second “Dignity Bus”, providing sleeping accommodations for up to 16 individuals.

The Dignity Bus is an “every night” temporary emergency shelter that offers 16 sleep pods. The Source’s second bus will be based in Palm Bay serving the unhoused, with three pick up points located at Raceway at the intersection of Babcock Street and Malabar Road; Walmart located at Malabar Road west of Interstate 95; and 7-11 at the intersection of Palm Bay and Minton Roads.
