Orlando Health Rated One of the Top 20 Healthcare Employers In the USA

By  //  March 11, 2022

Orlando Health has been named one of the top 20 healthcare employers nationwide, according to Forbes’ Americas Best Large Employers list. The healthcare provider earned the rating of number one healthcare organization in the state of Florida, as well as #86 out of 500 large organizations overall.

This is not the first employee-based accolade the organization has received – in 2021 it made the list of Forbes Best-In-State Employers and it received a Great Place to Work Certification. In addition, in 2020 and 2021 it was ranked among Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital’s Modern Healthcare Best Places to Work.

The Survey

The ranking is designated by Forbes based on research by Statista Inc., a global statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The data was gathered via an independent survey sent out to 60,000 American employees working for companies with more than 1,000 employees. The evaluation was based on questions that asked employees to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family. Based on the results of the survey, 500 large employers as well as 500 midsize institutions were awarded rankings across 25 industry sectors.

Orlando Health Services

Orlando Health was founded over 100 years ago and has its headquarters in Orlando, Florida. It is a non-profit healthcare organization that serves the southeastern United States.

The healthcare system is recognized around the world for its pediatric unit and adult Level One Trauma program. It also offers the only state-accredited Level Two Adult Trauma Center in the St. Petersburg region and is home to the nation’s largest neonatal intensive care unit under one roof.

It is also important to mention that Orlando Health is the only healthcare system in the southeast that offers open fetal surgery to repair the most severe forms of spina bifida.

The provider also offers a wide range of other healthcare services for a number of different needs. However, there are certain more specialized services that it does not provide, such as dermatological care. Luckily, Orlando and its surrounding areas are home to a great many fantastic dermatologists and dermatology centers, which makes finding local dermatology services in Orlando easy.

Florida Healthcare on the Mend

The Forbes ranking of Orlando Health paints a positive picture of the healthcare provider from the perspective of employees. Of course, like most healthcare organizations in Florida and across the US, it has been affected by COVID-19. However, according to Alex Binello, a partner in the accounting network BDO USA, South Florida’s healthcare industry is showing clear signs of recovery. A recent BDO survey

that polled 100 of the largest healthcare industry CFOs, found that 63% of Florida healthcare organizations are thriving and 82% expect to be thriving in one year. Binello expects to see continued growth and investment in South Florida healthcare in the years to come, as South Florida emerges as a leading healthcare hub.
