BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team will be back on the course Monday, playing in the Battle at the Shores at Normandy Shores Golf Club in Miami Beach.

The men’s golf team is looking to finish the regular season strong, beginning with this two-day tournament.

“We have to finish better, we didn’t finish our tournament well and went to Alabama and didn’t really finish well, placed second but just didn’t finish it.”

“We did finish well at the Florida Tech event and then didn’t get a chance to finish the last tournament because of weather so really just looking for that consistency this week,” Eastern Florida State College men’s golf coach Jamie Howell said.

The Titans have finished in the top three in all four events this season and have a fourth-place finish in the past four seasons at the Barry event, which features some of the best NCAA Division II teams in the country.

“You have to play smart, the way (Barry) coach (Jimmy) Stobs sets up the course is to play you into failure,” men’s golfer Ryan McMillan said.

“Some holes seem quite easy, but if you miss it five feet you are in trouble. The course is shorter, so you really have to focus on positioning the ball and not just fire at the stick.”

The first round will begin Monday morning with the final round scheduled for Tuesday.
