BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Health First’s Cape Canaveral Hospital has been named to Newsweek’s “World’s Best Hospitals 2022” U.S. list. Cape Canaveral was ranked No. 249 nationally and joined only 17 other Florida hospitals. For context, there are over 6,000 hospitals in the United States, and only 420 hospitals were ultimately ranked by Newsweek.

The Newsweek rankings are based on responses to an online survey sent to nearly 80,000 medical experts – including physicians, hospital managers and other health care professionals in 27 countries.

Every hospital in each country was rated by a score, which is based on recommendations from medical experts, available hospital performance data and patient satisfaction, such as results from patient surveys.

In 2021, Newsweek added a dimension for infection prevention to award U.S. hospitals that performed better than the national average for care-associated infections.

“This recognition is not only a tremendous honor for Cape Canaveral Hospital, but for the entire Health First system,” said Brett Esrock, CEO, Hospital Services.

“Health First’s four hospitals operate very much as one hospital – with four locations. To be honored and recognized on this national platform will only serve to drive us all toward even greater levels of quality, care, and achievement on behalf of the community we serve.”

“The medical community has been under an unprecedented level of stress over the past two years, and the ability to consistently maintain excellence is a testament to everyone working in this area,” said Nancy Cooper, Global Editor in Chief, Newsweek.

“This list is meant to identify quality care and provide a guide for patients and their families.”

“The incredible size and scope of this project can give insight to people all over the world seeking medical treatment,” added Evan Tobias, Director of Licensing, Statista.

The rankings were developed in partnership with data research firm Statista, Inc. For more information, or to view the entire list, visit here.

The Newsweek hospital ranking is the second major national recognition for Health First in as many months, as Forbes in February named Health First as one of “America’s Best Large Employers.”

In that survey of 60,000 U.S. employees, Health First landed in the top 500 nationally (407) on the list highlighting organizations with more than 5,000 employees.
