BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – City of Cocoa recognized former Cocoa Tiger, and current Los Angeles Rams running back Javian Hawkins with a “Key to the City” celebration at Riverfront Park on May 21.

Hawkins is the second Cocoa Tiger in the last two years to earn a Super Bowl ring as Jamel Dean won a ring with the Tampa Bay in 2021 when the Bucs beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 55.

Hawkins was picked up by the Rams and was added to their active roster, and practice squad last September and the Brevard County native will receive a championship ring per the NFL’s CBA rules.

Hawkins began his rookie campaign as an undrafted free agent and was picked up by the Atlanta Falcons, and then went to Tennessee. The Titans waived the 5-9 speedster and Hawkins was eventually signed by the Los Angeles Rams where he is now a Super Bowl Champion.

Hawkins had a career year in 2019 as a member of the Louisville Cardinals, rushing for 1,525 yards — the most by a running back in Louisville history – and posted eight 100-yard rushing games.

At Cocoa High, he finished his prep career with the Tigers with more than 4,000 yards rushing, and more than 40 touchdowns, and led Cocoa to the Class 4A state championship.
