Three Florida Tech Panthers Women’s Lacrosse Players Selected to All Sunshine State Conference Team

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Sunshine State Conference released its 2022 All-SSC Women’s Lacrosse Teams on Thursday and three Panthers were among the list of honorees.
Kailee O’Brien earned a First Team All-SSC selection while Caroline MacLeod and Kayla Minton were named to the second team.
O’Brien picks up her first career All-SSC nod after guiding the Panther defense this season. The senior led Tech with 43 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers, good for fourth and fifth in the SSC, respectively.
This season, the Lewis Center, Ohio native set a new school record for ground balls in a game with 10 versus Saint Leo on April 9, while her 3.07 ground balls per game average this season ranks second in program history.
O’Brien also contributed on the offensive end with 14 points, on nine goals and five assists, and 13 draw controls.
MacLeod receives her second career All-SSC award after garnering second-team honors in 2021.
The senior midfielder had her most productive season to date, racking up 39 points, on 31 goals and eight assists, to go along with 62 draw controls, 29 ground balls, and 15 caused turnovers.
The Hopkinton, Massachusetts product became the ninth player in program history to record 30 goals in a season. Additionally, her 62 draw controls are fifth-most in a season in program history.
MacLeod ends her Panther career ranking sixth all-time in program history with 118 career draw controls.
A newcomer to the Panther lineup this season, Minton earns All-SSC honors after leading Tech with 53 points, on a team-best 41 goals and 12 assists, while collecting 17 ground balls, six caused turnovers, and one draw control.
She is just the seventh Panther to exceed 40 goals in a season.
The Severna Park, Maryland native recorded eight hat tricks over 14 games, three game-winning goals, and averaged 2.93 goals per game, good for sixth in the SSC.
Minton also tallied a school-record five woman-down goals this season including two in the Panthers’ season-opening win over Flagler on February 17.
