BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard Federated Republican Women’s June luncheon attracted more than 90 members and featured a forum of invited Brevard County School Board members and candidates.

“Over the years, our school board has been controlled by Democrats who have been fiscally irresponsible and allowed teachers to indoctrinate our children with progressive ideologies,” said BFRW President Jill Gentis.

“The Brevard County School Board has been disfunction for a long time, It is time. Our children deserve better, and we urge you to get out the vote and help elect School Board members who put the community and its children first.”

Five School Board Candidates participated in the forum and answered questions on a wide range of topics from the BFRW Executive Committee.

The participants included Megan Wright, Candidate School Board District 1; Courtney Lewis, Candidate School Board District 2; Shawn Overdorf, Candidate School Board District 2; Gene Trent, Candidate School Board District 2; and Katye Campbell, Candidate School Board District 5.

“Candidate Forums are informative and help us get to know the candidates, the people we will trust to make important decisions affecting our children, family, and community for years to come,” said Gentis.

“For the system to work, we all must participate and the BFRW candidate Forum was a great success, and we are sure that success results in the election of qualified members for the Brevard County School Board.”

Florida State House Representative Thad Altman, a sponsor of House Bill HB7065 which addresses our State’s “fatherhood crisis,” was on hand to update the audience. “Every father who leaves their family changes their family tree forever,” said Altman. “Their child is more likely to go to jail, to receive government subsidies and to pass a generation of poverty on to their children.”

Also in attendance were Florida House District 30 Candidate Robyn Hathaway and Brevard Property Appraiser Dana Blickley.

Gentis said it is a BFRW tradition to send President Trump a birthday card and video.

“We filmed the video at our June Luncheon and it will be delivered with our birthday wishes to the President on his birthday,” she said.
