Titusville Woman Dies After Brutal Attack Involving a Machete and Rifle, Suspect Charged with First-Degree Murder

Suspect identified as Alteric Marquise Wanyan Johnson from Titusville

Titusville Police have charged 22-year-old Alteric Marquise Wanyan Johnson, of Titusville, with First Degree Murder in connection with the shooting of a local woman that occurred on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 11:15 p.m. on the 300 block of Willow Street.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Titusville Police have charged 22-year-old Alteric Marquise Wanyan Johnson, of Titusville, with First Degree Murder in connection with the shooting of a local woman that occurred on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 11:15 p.m. on the 300 block of Willow Street.

Officers responded to a domestic incident at a residence and as officers arrived on scene, Johnson was holding a rifle and fired at the victim, Ty’Kara Lamona Madden, 21, of Titusville.

As officers approached Johnson, he immediately dropped the the rifle and fled from officers.

Johnson was quickly located and taken into custody by officers.

There were no other injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Johnson and Madden were in a domestic relationship. Johnson attacked Madden with a machete. Then Madden ran to a neighbor’s residence in an effort to escape the attack and was shot with a rifle by Johnson.

Ty’Kara Madden sustained apparent edged weapon wounds and a gunshot wound.

She was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and subsequently succumbed to those injuries on Monday, June 6, 2022.

Johnson was booked into the Brevard County Jail without bond and charges were amended on Monday, June 6, 2022 from Attempted Murder to First Degree Murder.
