BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech women’s lacrosse team and five Panthers have been recognized by the IWLCA for their academic success.

The Panthers have tabbed an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad for recording a 3.33 team GPA in 2021-22.

Tech joins 398 other schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA named Academic Honors Squads. To qualify as an honor squad, teams must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.

Florida Tech has now earned honors squad status six out of the last seven years. The IWLCA did not present the award in 2020.

In addition to the overall prowess of the team, five members of the squad were awarded for their own individual efforts in the classroom as they were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

To be eligible for this honor, scholar-athletes must be junior, senior, or graduate students and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Representing Tech on the honor roll are Brooke Albert (Jr., Biomedical Science, 3.55 GPA), Rachel Johnson (Jr., Business Administration/Marketing, 3.80 GPA), Caroline MacLeod (Sr., Ocean Engineering, 3.77), Lindsey Marquardt (Jr., Business Administration, 3.75 GPA), and Madison Savje (Sr., Ocean Engineering, 3.66 GPA).

The Crimson & Gray racked up numerous academic awards in 2021-22, with the team placing 14 Scholar-Athletes on the Dean’s List in Fall 2021, with seven Panthers earning 4.0 GPAs.

In Spring 2022, Tech had 12 players named to the Dean’s List, with four making 4.0 GPAs.

Johnson was named 2021-22 Outstanding Student of the Year for her respective academic college, while MacLeod has tabbed a Florida Tech Distinguished Student Scholar this past spring semester.

Additionally, 15 women’s lacrosse scholar-athletes were named to the 2022 Sunshine State Conference Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
