Olivia was the Queen of the Court and the smiles, laughter, and fun had by everyone truly was a special night

WATCH: Seven year-old cancer patient, Olivia Owens, of Palm Bay, celebrated her birthday in style with a Birthday-Ball at Dragonfly Farms Wedding and Event Venue in Palm Bay, Florida. Olivia’s family, friends and community came out in a “big way” to make her seventh birthday a memorable one.

Olivia is part of a very special family that includes her dad, Dave Owens; her mom, Samantha Owens; and her 10-year-old sister, Charlotte Owens. Olivia Owens, a seven-year-old Palm Bay resident, was recently diagnosed with a brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Childhood cancer is brutal, it’s awful, it’s frustrating, it’s not fair. You can go on and on, it’s just incredibly sad. Children having to battle a disease they may not fully understand, and families affected beyond measure, is just not right.

The only thing this author has seen that is positive about childhood cancer is the response of others in time of need.

Olivia Owens, a seven-year-old Palm Bay resident, was recently diagnosed with a brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). DIPG is highly aggressive and difficult to treat, and unfortunately, the numbers do not look good. Fewer than 10 percent of children survive longer than two years after diagnosis.

Olivia is part of a very special family that includes her dad, Dave Owens; her mom, Samantha Owens; and her 10-year-old sister, Charlotte Owens.

Family and friends have surrounded the Owens family with love and support, which was never more evident than on the night of Olivia’s recent Birthday Ball. Olivia’s wish was to have a ball-style birthday party. All she had to do was make that comment and her family and friends were off and running to make it happen!

Olivia’s Birthday Ball was held at Dragonfly Farms Wedding and Event Venue in Palm Bay, Florida, and by all accounts, it was an amazing night.

Dragonfly Farms went the “extra mile” to make certain things were to Olivia’s liking, and they succeeded!

Michele Delaune, a family friend, said this about the Ball, “Olivia’s Birthday Ball was the most spectacular party I have ever been a part of. To watch so many people that love Olivia and the Owens family come together to celebrate Olivia’s seventh birthday was heartwarming.  Olivia was the Queen of the Court and the smiles, laughter, and fun had by everyone truly was a special night we will never forget. It truly was a magical night.”

“This party was more than a wish, it was an opportunity for Olivia and her friends to dress up and feel extra special, creating beautiful memories,” said Samantha Owens.

“The community continues to blow us away by the kindness and generosity shown. All the businesses involved who offered their precious time and resources to make Olivia’s experience magical have given her an unforgettable gift.”

Among those that helped make this a successful event were Dragonfly Farms, Custom Creations for All Occasions, DJ Shane Entertainment, Blue Skies Entertainment, Acevedo Photography, Blank Canvas Event Décor, Forever Franks, Cynful Snacks,
4 Rivers BBQ, Chairs For Affairs, Bryanna, Make-A-Wish of Central and Northern Florida, the Owens Family and all family and friends.

Olivia Owens is a very special little girl. In appearances, she is as typical as the girl next door. In fact, she is the girl next door. She was just dealt a very difficult and challenging hand. However, if there is anyone that can beat DIPG, it is Olivia Owens. She has her family, she has her friends, and she has her community behind her. Don’t count her out!
