BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department is currently working on a double homicide investigation at 1052 Tanglewood Lane in Melbourne.
According to Melbourne Police Commander Heath Sanders, Melbourne Police Department, MPD received a request from a Georgia police department to conduct a wellbeing check at 1052 Tanglewood Lane.
“The police in Georgia had a person in custody whose behavior was concerning and caused the Georgia police officer to believe someone at the home in Melbourne might be in danger,” said Commander Sanders.
“When Melbourne officers arrived at the home, they discovered the bodies of two people with evidence to indicate both were the victim of homicide.”
Commander Sanders said the person of interest and the two victims are related.
“At this time, the suspect in Georgia is the only person of interest and there is nothing to indicate there is any further danger to the community related to this incident,” said Commander Sanders.
“At this time the victims’ identification is not being released pending positive identification and notification to the next of kin. The suspect’s information will be provided when able.”
If anyone has any information they can provide for this investigation, they are asked to call the Melbourne Police Department at (321) 60S-6731 or Crime Line (SOO) 423-TIPS (S477).
