BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police released police body cam footage of the arrest on a suspect wanted for domestic battery on Monday.

Police say late Monday, Charlie and Bravo Squad officers, including K9’s Maverick and Draco, worked as a team to arrest a suspect involved in a domestic battery/strangulation.

The victim called 911 after managing to escape and hide.

Bravo squad officers immediately set up a perimeter and deployed the two patrol K9s to begin a track.

The track led to an area where Officer Dean was standing by and was able to convince the suspect to stop and surrender.

“Voluntary compliance is always the goal,” said Cocoa Police in released statement. “The presence of a police K-9 always helps! We are glad this story had a happy ending and the victim was not seriously injured.”

There is help available for victims of this type of crime who want to break the cycle of violence. If you need help, police urge you to contact victim services office at 321-637-6382.
