BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida State District 31 Rep. Tyler Sirois announced he will seek reelection to his house seat in 2024 instead of taking on Rep. Randy Fine for the District 19 State Senate seat now held by Debbie Mayfield.
Mayfield is not eligible for reelection in 2024 due to term limits and Fine is currently serving his final two-year term as a state representative.
“For the past few weeks I have given serious consideration to running for the Florida Senate in 2024,” said Sirois told Space Coast Daily.
“While I appreciate the encouragement of my family and friends, I have decided the best course for me is to continue as a member of the Florida House of Representatives. As I stand for reelection to my next term in the House, I remain focused on expanding vocational and technical training opportunities for students, cleaning up the Indian River Lagoon, and supporting our law enforcement and veterans.”
Sirois, 38, was born at Cape Canaveral Hospital, grew up on Merritt Island, and graduated from Cocoa Beach High School in 2003 and Florida State University in 2006.
Currently, Sirois works to support law enforcement, prosecutors, and victims of crime as Executive Director for the Office of State Attorney Phil Archer.
In this position, he is responsible for managing a $20 million budget serving nearly 300 employees between Brevard and Seminole counties. As Executive Director, Tyler is responsible for human resources, finances, paralegal and victim support, information systems, and investigations.
“On behalf of my constituents, I want to express my gratitude to Senator Debbie Mayfield for her many years of true and dedicated public service as she nears the end of her term,” said Sirois.
“I look forward to the work ahead and serving under the leadership of Speaker Paul Renner and Chairman Danny Perez as a member of the Florida House of Representatives.”
District 31 includes areas in Merritt Island, Cocoa, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, Satellite Beach, Port St. John and Titusville.
