Artemis II Astronauts Return to Kennedy Space Center for Emotional Homecoming After Historic Moon Mission

BREVARD COUNTY • KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLORIDA – The NASA Artemis II crew made a special homecoming this week, returning to Kennedy Space Center for their first official visit since their historic journey around the Moon and back.
Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen spent time reconnecting with the workforce that helped make their groundbreaking April 1, 2026, mission a success.
During the visit, the astronauts toured several key facilities across Kennedy Space Center, met with engineers, technicians and support teams, and visited the Orion spacecraft that safely carried them on humanity’s first crewed lunar mission in more than 50 years.
The crew also received an up-close look at preparations for NASA’s Artemis III mission, which will build on the success of Artemis II and mark the next step toward returning astronauts to the lunar surface.
Throughout the visit, Wiseman, Glover, Koch and Hansen shared their enthusiasm with the Kennedy workforce, thanking the thousands of employees whose dedication made the historic mission possible.
Their return served as a reminder of the teamwork behind every milestone in space exploration, celebrating not only the astronauts who flew the mission but also the engineers, technicians, scientists and support personnel working to advance NASA’s Artemis program.
As preparations continue for Artemis III, the visit highlighted Kennedy Space Center’s central role in America’s return to deep space and the ongoing effort to establish a sustained human presence on and around the Moon while paving the way for future missions to Mars.
