Cocoa Police Arrest Two Suspects for Firing Shots at Officers After Fleeing Traffic Stop

Cocoa police officers arrested two suspects facing multiple felony charges after fleeing a traffic stop and firing shots at police. According to Cocoa police officials, early Wednesday evening, officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction. “The female driver fled…the male passenger in the vehicle fired at least three rounds at police as they attempted to flee,” said a Cocoa police spokesperson.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa police officers arrested two suspects facing multiple felony charges after fleeing a traffic stop and firing shots at police.

According to Cocoa police officials, early Wednesday evening, officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction.

“The female driver fled…the male passenger in the vehicle fired at least three rounds at police as they attempted to flee,” said a Cocoa police spokesperson.

“Officers initiated a pursuit northbound on U.S. 1 with assistance from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.”

According to Cocoa police officials, the driver crashed into another vehicle in Titusville at which time the occupants of the suspect vehicle were taken into custody. There was a toddler in the suspect vehicle that was not adequately secured.

The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Titusville Police Department.

There were no injuries involved.
