Eastern Florida Men’s Basketball Advances to Tournament Quarterfinals with 89-81 Win Over No. 2 Daytona State College

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team knocked off No. 2 seed Daytona State College Thursday afternoon at the Region VIII Tournament quarterfinals.

Andres Burney had his third 30-point game of the year while Matija Zuzic scored a season-high 18 points as the Titans beat defeated Daytona State College 89-81 to advance to the semifinals on Friday.

Eastern Florida State College came out hitting four of their first five 3-pointers as Demetrius Robinson, Zuzic, and Eric Parnell all hit 3-pointers in the five minutes of the contest.

Eastern Florida State College would build the lead to 24 points on an Andres Burney basket with eight minutes left.

Daytona State College would cut it to 15 at halftime, but the Titans would continue to hit big shots despite being in foul trouble.

Daytona State cut the lead four with 40.9 seconds remaining, but Zuzic hit all four free throws to finish the victory for the Titans.

Parnell had four 3-pointers for 12 points while Robinson finished with eight points and Jaden Witter-Watts chipped in with seven. As a team, the Titans hit 13 3-pointers.

The win evens the series with Daytona State College 2-2 and marks the fourth time in the past five years that Eastern Florida State College will play in the tournament semifinals.
