DeSantis vowed to Bring Change to the System

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – For many Floridians, it was a rude awakening last night around 4:45 a.m. when the emergency alert system sent out a test alert on peoples’ phones.
The news also got Gov. Ron DeSantis’ attention as well after he released a statement on Thursday.
“I’ve ordered FL Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie to bring swift accountability for the test of the emergency alert system in the wee hours of the morning. This was a completely inappropriate use of this system. Stay tuned,” said Gov. DeSantis.
The Emergency Alert System is a national warning system in the United States designed to allow authorized officials to broadcast emergency alerts and warning messages to the public via cable, satellite, mobile devices or broadcast television, and both AM/FM and satellite radio.
