Undefeated Eastern Florida State Men’s Tennis Prepares for NJCAA Division I National Tournament May 15

Titans finished in the top seven at tournament in the past five seasons

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – For the first time in program history, the Eastern Florida State College men’s tennis team will head to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament unbeaten.

The Titans finished the regular season unbeaten and are ranked No. 3 in the JUCO national ITA poll heading into the national tournament which begins Monday, May 15 at the Courts of McKinney in McKinney, Texas.

It is the fifth time that the men’s tennis team has qualified for the national tournament.

No. 1 singles player Hugo Car has not lost a match during the spring season and heads into the national tournament ranked No. 3 in the ITA junior college national singles rankings.

The freshman is 8-0 this season in No. 1 singles matches.

Teammate Eric Tripathi is ranked 10th nationally and has had a really good season for the Titans.

Sophomore Lucas Gonzalez is No. 12 in the rankings and has had a good season after falling in the semifinals last season in the national tournament.

Freshman Jack Dixon is ranked 14th and has won four matches this spring. Jett Leong is also ranked in the top 30 as the freshman is ranked No. 27 after a strong season.

The doubles team of Car and Gonzalez is ranked No. 5 after a solid regular season as the No. 1 doubles team, winning seven matches.

The duo of Colin Tavares and Dixon come into the national tournament ranked seventh in the national ranking.

The Titans have finished in the top seven at the national tournament in each of the past five seasons.
