Merritt Island Defeats Rockledge 20-11 in Florida District 22 Little League All-Star Tournament Action

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The Florida District 22 Little League All-Star Tournament got underway Monday night with two games at Port St. John’s fields in Space Coast Communities Sports Complex of Canaveral Groves the 8-10 Baseball division.
In one game, Space Coast LL was the visiting team while the host team from Port St. John LL was the home team. Brayden Patterson, Jackson Utz, and Bowen Wilson combined on the mound for Space Coast LL.
For Merritt Island LL, Corbin Noonan and Bentley Parsons pitched while Tucker Ball and Parsons each scored 2 runs and Noonan went 2-for-2 at the plate with a single, a triple, and scoring both times in Port St. John’s 10-0 victory in 4 innings.
In the other game, Merritt Island LL were visitors and Rockledge LL was home.
Merritt Island’s Cypress Hedelston got on base 3-out-of-4 at-bats with a walk, a single, and a double, scoring 3 runs while Christian Young got on-base 3-out-of-3 at-bats and added 3 runs.
The Rockledge LL All-Stars received multiple runs from Henrick Sanford (a single and a walk with 2 runs) and Bryson Jefferson (2 doubles with 2 runs). Merritt Island led 20-11 going into the 6th inning when a lightning delay halted play.
Rain soon followed and the fields were lost for the night. Per a call to the LL Tournament Committee in Williamsport, the game was halted and considered a complete game with Merritt Island winning 20-11 after 5 innings.
The Baseball Tournament continues Tuesday night with Port St. John LL meeting Merritt Island LL and Space Coast LL meeting Indian River City LL.
