BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Grace McBride, a recent graduate of Rockledge High School, will attend Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in the fall, in hopes of fulfilling her lifetime dream of becoming a pilot.
McBride recently talked with the Friday Night Locker Room’s Steve Wilson about her love of flying, saying, “I want to be a pilot. I have always wanted to be a pilot. So, I’m going to be a pilot!”
McBride was very active during her four years of high school. She was a four-year member of the JROTC program, was on the wrestling team for three years, and played golf her senior year.
She was very proud of her accomplishments in JROTC. McBride joined a lot of clubs within the program, among them were the Drill Team, Sabre Team; and Leadership Team and Academic Team, of which she was commander of both.
Her sophomore year she was added to the staff and was S1 of her JROTC Battalion. She also trained for one year as a medic.
McBride was talked into being on the wrestling team as a sophomore and fell in love with the sport. So much so, that she plans to start working on becoming an official. McBride said wrestling “has done more for me than anything else in high school.” She went on to say, “It taught me a lot about who I am, who I want to be, and the person I should be, and I should strive to be, in life.”
Grace McBride is a very special young lady. She strives to be the best; and with that mindset, there is no doubt that she will soar to unimaginable heights!
