Eastern Florida State College to Close Wednesday and Thursday Due to Potential Impacts from Hurricane Idalia

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College leadership made the decision on Tuesday to cancel all classes and events planned for Wednesday, August 30 and Thursday, August 31 due to the potential impact of Hurricane Idalia which is on track to make landfall on Florida’s northwest Gulf Coast Wednesday morning.
The cancellation includes online classes, and students are not expected to complete any assignments with deadlines on those two days.
Tuesday, August 29 afternoon and evening classes are being held as scheduled.
The National Hurricane Center has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Brevard County as Hurricane Idalia prepares to make landfall on the Florida Gulf Coast Wednesday morning.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to monitor the College website at easternflorida.edu and EFSC social media for updates.
EFSC Emergency Managers will continue to track the storm and send updates as needed. The College will re-open on Tuesday, September 5.
