West Shore Jr./Sr. High School, Edgewood Jr/Sr High School Ranked Among Best High Schools in U.S. News & World Report

West Shore named 4th best high school in Florida
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – In the 2023-2024 Best U.S. High Schools rankings by U.S. News & World Report, both West Shore Jr./Sr. High School and Edgewood Jr/Sr High School have secured positions within Florida’s top 10 high schools.
Specifically, West Shore holds the impressive title of being the 4th best high school in Florida, while Edgewood follows closely as the 7th best.
Looking beyond state boundaries, West Shore attains a national ranking of 43rd, with Edgewood slightly behind at 74th in the nation.
West Shore Jr./Sr. High School
West Shore enrolls students from grades seven through twelve. It is part of the Brevard Public Schools System. It was the first “School of Choice” in Brevard County, Florida
As a public school, West Shore accepts any student who has met minimum academic and social expectations set by the school, provided there is space available. If there are more students interested in the school than is space available, a lottery is held to determine acceptance.
The maximum school enrollment for all grades is capped at 950 students, in an effort to keep class sizes small.
Students are accepted from across the county. However, most students enrolled reside in southern Brevard county, mainly Melbourne, Palm Bay, Rockledge, West Melbourne and the Melbourne barrier island beachside.
Edegwood Jr./Sr. High School
Edgewood enrolls students from grades seven through twelve. It is part of the Brevard Public Schools System. It was the second “School of Choice” in Brevard County. The school has been in operation since 1960, first as Edgewood Middle School, then Edgewood Junior High and now as Edgewood Junior/Senior High School.
