BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA—West Shore Junior/Senior High School in Melbourne has once again earned national acclaim, receiving the distinguished title of National Blue Ribbon School from the U.S. Department of Education.
This prestigious recognition highlights the school’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and ongoing efforts to close student achievement gaps.

This marks the fourth time West Shore has received this high honor, winning it in 2004, 2012, 2018, and 2024.
This rare and commendable feat underscores its position as a leading educational institution within Brevard Public Schools and across the country.

An official awards ceremony celebrating the 2025 Blue Ribbon Schools is scheduled for later this year in Washington, D.C., where West Shore will be formally honored among the nation’s top-performing schools.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, established in 1982, recognizes public and private schools nationwide for overall academic achievement or progress in closing educational gaps.
Selection is based on several performance indicators, including state assessment scores in reading and mathematics, graduation rates, and college and career readiness.
Being named a National Blue Ribbon School not only symbolizes excellence but also encourages the sharing of best practices to strengthen educational outcomes nationwide. West Shore’s continued recognition reflects a culture of high standards, innovation, and student-centered learning.
