Police Release Identity of Man Found Dead in the Indian River Near Melbourne

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Authorities in Brevard County have released the identity of the man found dead Thursday in the Indian River near Melbourne as 40-year-old Justin Peayler from Melbourne.
Melbourne police say a call came in Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 4:04 p.m., when Melbourne police officers responded to the area of Horse Creek
(Rose Court and US-1) regarding a person floating face down in the river.
When officers arrived on scene and they immediately determined the man was dead.
Additional officers with the dive recovery team and Marine Patrol Unit were called to the scene to bring Peayler to the shore.
If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are asked to call the Melbourne Police Department (321- 608-6737) and speak with a detective.
Foul play is not suspected in this but police will continue the investigation.
