Analysis: Over the past week, Florida has done a lot to solidify their NCAA tournament resume barring a last-second conference collapse. Wins in Lexington against an explosive Kentucky Squad and manhandling one of the most underrated teams in the country in Auburn cannot be overlooked, even though their record against top teams outside of that is a little shaky.

Still, Florida now has two very impressive wins they can show the committee and, just as importantly, have no embarrassing losses on their record. Every single one of the 7 teams the Gators have lost to this season rank in the top 35 in NET, with four of those coming by four points or less. This shows that, while Florida might have a hard time getting the job done against top teams overall, they still show up more often than not and force lots of close games.

Right now, they have a respectable tournament resume but, with 8 games remaining, they’ll need to finish strong to secure their place.

Remaining Games

Vs. LSU

@ Georgia

@ #16 Alabama

Vs. Vanderbilt

Vs. Missouri

@ #15 South Carolina

Vs. #16 Alabama

@ Vanderbilt

The rest of the Florida Gators basketball schedule is a pretty even split between the has and the has-nots of the SEC. The Gators have done a great job all year of picking up the wins they’re expected to get, so they should have little trouble with LSU, Georgia, Missouri, and Vanderbilt twice.

If they pick up all those wins, Florida should have done just enough to squeak into the tournament, but they’ll want to pick up one more ranked victory just to be sure. Splitting with Alabama or taking down South Carolina would be more than enough to get into March, while going 2-1 or 3-0 in those games could see them easily rise into the top 25 and a top 5 seed overall.

Overall, the Florida Gators basketball ranking shows that they’re a solid, yet not elite, team who can play nearly anyone in the country close on their day. Based on how things are going, expect the Gators to be somewhere in the 6 to 10 seed range heading into March Madness, with potential to go even higher if they can pick up two or three more ranked wins.
