BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech’s weVENTURE Women’s Business Center was recognized as the 2024 South Florida District and State of Florida Women’s Business Center of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

weVENTURE WBC, a program of the Bisk College of Business, was one of 10 award recipients recognized in this year’s Small Business Week awards. The SBA South Florida district covers 24 counties in southern Florida, including Brevard County.

It’s the center’s eighth time earning recognition from the SBA for service excellence.

Established in 2007, weVENTURE WBC strives to be the leading voice and resource for professional women and entrepreneurs on the Space and Treasure coasts.

Research by the National Women’s Business Council showed rapid growth in women-owned small businesses since 1997.

Today there are more than 14 million women-owned businesses that make up 39% of all U.S. businesses – a nearly 14% increase from 2019 to 2023.

“Congratulations to the weVENTURE WBC team for this wonderful achievement,” College of Business Dean Ted Richardson said.

“To be recognized as the best among a strong group of women’s business centers across the Sunshine State is truly commendable.”

weVENTURE WBC, along with the other nine winners, will be recognized at events around the district throughout the month of May.

SBA South Florida Deputy District Director Administrator Althea Harris will present weVENTURE WBC the award at the Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon on May 1.
