The Florida District 22 All-Star Tournament for 2024 continued Monday night with the 8/9/10 Baseball Division at Holder Park in Mims. 

BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA – The Florida District 22 All-Star Tournament for 2024 continued Monday night with the 8/9/10 Baseball Division at Holder Park in Mims.

At Holder Park on Monday, the 8/9/10 Baseball division continued their District play with 2 games.

Softball at Fay Park:

The 10/11/12 Softball division continued play tonight with Merritt Island LL as the visitors and Port St. John LL as home.

Merritt Island went into the 6th inning with a 10-2 score, led by 3 runs from Akemi Jenkins and 2 runs each from Kinsley Pierce and Colon Haley. They were unable to add any additional points to the board in their half of the inning.

In the bottom of the 6th, Port St. John made a run at it as Brynne Meloche, Falynn Barfield, Tinsley Mahony, and Mya Ulmer came in to score.

However, Merritt Island’s 2nd baseman made the final out of the game on a pop fly to win 10-6. They will meet again Tuesday night for the deciding game in this division.

Baseball at Holder Park:

Up in Mims, there were 2 games in the 8/9/10 Baseball division. Over on Field 1, the visitors were Indian River City LL with Rockledge LL as the home team. Indian River City’s Rylan Wyatt scored in the 3rd, but the rest of the offense belonged to Rockledge.

Liam Jernstedt, Gavin Hadwin, Caleb Haag, and Aiden Newland each scored twice in Rockledge’s 14-1 victory in 3 1/2 innings.

Meanwhile, on Field 2, Port St. John LL (visitor) and Merritt Island LL, both with 3-0 records, met in what would be the Championship Game.

Merritt Island opened the scoring in the 1st with a run from Parker Morrissey and extended it to a 3-0 lead with runs from Henry Dearaujo and Cooper Milton in the 2nd. Port St.John battled back when Griffin Plecki and Graden Speece crossed the plate in the top of the 4th.

But, it wasn’t enough as Merritt Island tacked on 3 more runs in the 4th and another in the 5th for a 7-2 score in 5 1/2 innings.

With the win, Merritt Island advances to the Section 3 Tournament for 8/9/10 Baseball which will be held on June 29th and hosted by St. Augustine LL.
