BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police Department officials announced that Officer Joe Ameigh will retire after 28 years of outstanding service.

“As we bid farewell to Joe we reflect on the incredible impact he has made on our community,” said Melbourne Police Chief David Gillespie.

“His unwavering commitment to ensuring our safety and well-being has been nothing short of exemplary, Throughout his career, Joe has demonstrated remarkable courage, integrity, and compassion and his contributions extend beyond his official duties. He has mentored new officers, offering guidance and support to ensure the highest standards of law enforcement are upheld.

“His leadership and dedication have left an indelible mark on our department and will continue to inspire future generations of officers. We thank Joe for his exceptional service, his sacrifice, and his unwavering dedication to protecting and serving our community. His legacy will live on, and his impact will be felt for years to come.
