Palm Bay Police Department Honors Longtime Volunteer Michael Sharpe With VCOP Spotlight

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department recognized longtime volunteer Michael Sharpe with this month’s VCOP Spotlight.
Volunteering for the Palm Bay Police Department can truly be a family affair.
Michael Sharpe joined the VCOPs in 2022 after being recruited by his wife, Karen, who volunteers at the front desk and serves as the recruiting manager for the program.
Michael, a six-year resident of Palm Bay, retired in 2016 and moved to Florida after working as a senior project and engineering manager in Texas. Throughout his career, he managed energy and petrochemical projects in 12 states and 4 countries.
Married for 34 years to fellow VCOP Karen, they are proud parents and grandparents, with seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
As a VCOP, Michael is part of the patrol unit, conducting neighborhood patrols, house checks, VIN verifications, commercial security checks, and providing traffic support as needed.
In addition to his weekly patrol shift, Michael assists with vehicle transports, courier duties, radar/sign trailer placement, and special event traffic support.
