BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey continued his fight against Animal Cruelty in Brevard County after releasing a video on Monday that detailed two separate cases of Animal Cruelty.

Sheriff Ivey detailed the first case that sadly explained the gruesome details surrounding a dog’s death that was found dead inside a crate at a residence by deputies.

Douglas Lopez, 46, from Cocoa, was charged with Animal Cruelty – Torture Inflict Pain Serious Injury Resulting in Death, and Confining an Animal Without Sufficient Food & Water.

Lopez has a $16,000 bond.

The second case involved 18 animals that were severely malnourished and living in horrible conditions inside a home.

The suspect was identified as Patricia Merrill, 75, from Melbourne, who was charged with 18 counts of Animal Cruelty – Torture Inflict Pain Serious Injury Resulting in Death.

Merrill has a $63,000 bond.
