Patrick Space Force Base Combat Rescue Engine Specialists Conduct Propeller Installation on HC-130J Combat King II

Specialist Airmen ensure that aircraft are ready to fly at a moment's notice

Located on Patrick Space Force Base, the 920th Rescue Wing is the Air Force Reserve Command’s only combat search and rescue unit.
BREVARD COUNTY • PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE, FLORIDA – Combat rescue Engine Specialist Airmen assigned to the 720th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron installed a propeller on an HC-130J Combat King II aircraft at Patrick Space Force Base in Florida.
During installation, specialists carefully inspect the propeller and mounting hardware before aligning and attaching it to the engine. Afterwards they conduct thorough post-installation checks to ensure proper functionality and safety before the aircraft is cleared for flight.
Combat Rescue Engine Specialist Airmen assigned to the 720th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron are responsible for the inspection, repair, launch, and recovery of HC-130J Combat King II aircraft. The squadron’s mission is to support the 920th Rescue Wing’s global peacetime and combat search and rescue operations.
The 720th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron is part of the 920th Maintenance Group, which also includes the 920th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and the 920th Maintenance Squadron. The 920th Maintenance Group provides safe and reliable aircraft, including HH-60G Pave Hawk and HH-60W Jolly Green II helicopters.
The Air Force also has Tactical Aircraft Maintenance specialists who work on fighters, strike-fighters, and attack planes. They ensure that aircraft are ready to fly at a moment’s notice by performing maintenance and reviewing maintenance data.

Located on Patrick Space Force Base, Florida, the 920th Rescue Wing is the Air Force Reserve Command’s only combat search and rescue unit.
The wing is responsible for a demanding and compelling array of missions, requiring its Rescue Airmen to maintain a high level of proficiency, ready to deploy at moment’s notice.
The unit’s peacetime missions include search and rescue support for civilians in distress at sea, in the desert or upon mountains. Additionally, the wing provides worldwide humanitarian relief, supporting rescue efforts in the aftermath of disasters such as hurricanes, floods and earthquakes.
